Wine of the Week | Solear Manzanilla [Fortified] It's been a while since I've sampled Solear. Aged an average of 6 years in Barbadillo's "soleras" in Sanlucar de Barrameda, it's a long time personal favorite from sherry country. Classic manzanilla sherry aromas of seaside salinity, with a pleasant nuttiness (almonds). Fresh and crisp, easy on the palate, and a smooth & lasting finish. Excellent, great value. Went nicely today with some heritage tomatoes, splashed with olive oil. Goes beautifully with fried fish & shellfish; also a surprisingly good companion for spicy fare: Mexican or Asian. [$L] |
