Wine of the Week | Étim Syrah 2005 [Red] In recent years a "new" grape (Syrah) has been the basis of some of the more interesting wines from Spain. This phenomenal Étim from the Falset co-op shows how well Syrah is showing, especially in the warmer parts of the country. A dark purple/black color with a terrific nose: ripe berry fruit, minty cholcolate and dry mountain herbs, with a stony/mineral touch. Ripe, rich and full-bodied on the palate with cassis/blueberry fruit, spice and a hint of tapenade. Excellent with a great finish. [$M] |
