Wine of the Week | Corcovo Crianza 2005 [Red] Valdepeñas has been one of the country's major wine producing areas for a long time; and this Temnpranillo-based beauty is a fine example of a well made Valdepeñas red. Ripe, sweet, easy to drink and attractively priced, it's fit for any table. Very good indeed. Nice bing cherry red color, medium dark. Fresh and fruity (blackberry/raspberry) on the nose - a pleasant departure from the overripe sensations often found in Valdepeñas reds. There's mineral, spice and just a hint of oak. The palate confirms its clean freshness and fruitiness, with well defined yet smooth tannins and excellent length. [$M] |
