Wine of the Week | Roda I 2004 [Red] The 2004 Rioja vintage has been getting excellent reviews and Roda I Reserva shows why. It's deep, dark, big and beautiful. It's great wine that still needs a bit of bottle time for the tannins to round out; the only downside is a hefty pricetag. A deep dark, almost black color is a good indicator of what's in store. The nose is full of dark berry fruit wrapped in excellent oak with a background of mineral/graphite and subtle spice. On the palate it's a powerhouse of fruit & toasty oak: power and great complexity; yet elegant and with enormous length. Outstanding. [$H] |
