Wine of the Week | Montebuena 2005 [Red] Made by a grapegrowers co-op in the Rioja Alavesa sub-region, this wine shows well year after year. The 2004 had terrific reviews and the new vintage is just as good. 100% Tempranillo & a gentle dose of oak. Very good and a great value. Bright, clean ruby red color. A cherry & berry fruit nose with a touch of vanilla and peppery spice. Fresh and clean on the palate, the red berry/cherry fruit and gentle tannins make for an elegant, easy drinking wine with a user-friendly finish. This is a great food wine, which should go well with a broad range of dishes (pork, pasta and cheese). [$M] |
