Wine of the Week | Secastilla 2005 [Red] Since it's introduction with the 2001 vintage, Secastilla has gotten rave reviews and continues to be rated as one of Somontano's top wines. Made from old vines garnacha grapes from plantings in the upper reaches of the Secastilla valley. This is a top class red of real quality that should go well with a grilled steak. Deep dark (almost black) cherry red color. A touch closed on the nose, with clean toasty oak aromas, layered over rich berry fruit (raspberry/blackberry) and a hint of spice and herbs. A medium bodied palate with nice intensity, crisp acidity, a good dose of tannin, and a wonderfully long finish. A class act. Excellent wine. [$H] |
