Wine of the Week | Pasil Rueda Verdejo 2006 [White] The 100% old vines Verdejo is a classic example of a top class Rueda Verdejo. Sold as Blanco Nieva Pie Franco in Spain, it's made from grapes from very old ungrafted vines. It's got great concentration and aroma. Very good with fish or fowl. Clean pale straw color with a greenish tint. Well defined aromas of apple/pear fruit, along with a nice floral/tarragon smell, citrus (grapefruit) and the typical grassy/orange peel smell of Verdejo. On the palate it's crisp and fresh with flavors of tree fruits, licorice & fresh-cut hay, with a bitterish/citrusy fruit finish. [$M] |
