Wine of the Week | Vall de Berrvs 2002 [Red] The Terra Alta denomination in the province of Tarragona is best known as a major producer of high octane bulk wines for blending; but producers like Covialba have begun to produce some interesting barrel aged quality reds. A good, hearty and full bodied wine; just the thing for a barbecue. Deep, dark cherry red color. On the nose the toasty oak component shows clearly over rich dark berry fruit aromas (blackberry), along with a touch of spice and leather. On the palate it's got good body, fresh acidity, rich ripe berry flavors and plenty of oak. A wine meant for those who go for oaky, powerful reds. [$M] |
