Wine of the Week | Salia 2005 [Red] This easy drinking red is the second wine from Finca Sandoval, wine and food writer VĂctor de la Serna's notably successful winemaking venture. Made from a blend of Garnacha, Syrah and the local Bobal grape, it's a medium bodied red with style and personality. A good match for barbecued pork or beef ribs. A pretty cherry/garnet red color, with a nicely expressive nose showing berry fruit (plum/blueberry), wrapped in the spicy/toasty aromas of quality oak. Medium bodied on the palate, it shows ample fruit (berries) with fresh acidity, and firm tannins on the finish. A touch of alcohol "heat" indicates it would be best served on the cool side. Very good. [$M] |
