Wine of the Week | Pago de Carraovejas 2004 [Red] The 2004 "crianzas" from Ribera del Duero, released at the end of 2006, are now showing very well. This wine is mainly Tempranillo (85%) with a bit of Cabernet and Merlot. An excellent wine with superb wood/fruit balance, with body yet elegant. A perfect match for oven roasted lamb. Deep, dark cherry red color with a hint of purple. Berry fruit aromas (blackberry & blueberry) blend with hints of dark chocolate and a nicely measured dose of toasty oak. On the palate it's full-bodied, with ripe berry fruit, decent acidity, well rounded tannins and excellent length. Very good. [$H] |
