Wine of the Week | Palacio de Bornos Verdejo 2006 [White] Verdejo is without a doubt one of Spain's top white wine grape varieties, and this is an excellent example of a quality Rueda white wine, made from this most interesting grape. A bright, fresh wine with flavor and body, and an excellent food wine that will work well with a broad range of dishes. Very good. Clean, bright pale straw color. Excellent nose that combines fresh citrusy aromas with fresh stone/tropical fruits, freshly mown hay and the scent of flowers. On the palate its crisp acidity is complemented by grapefruit and tropical fruit flavors (papaya/passion fruit). The finish is long and nicely accentuated by a slightly bitterish flavor of orange peel. [$L] |
