Wine of the Week | Finca Sandoval 2004 [Red] Manchuela is a relative newcomer to the list of Spanish DO's, but as this delicious Syrah-based red shows, has genuine potential. Made by a well known Spanish wine & gourmet journalist, Finca Sandoval is hearty and full bodied and "built" to be enjoyed. Excellent. A lovely deep dark cherry red color. Well defined nose, powerful yet delicate with ripe dark berry fruit, a touch of crushed black olives, fresh flowers and a good dose of toasty oak. On the patate it's thick and rich with plenty of sweet, ripe fruit flavors with ample but polished tannins, well integrated wood and an excellent finish. [$H] |
