Wine of the Week | Anna de Codorníu [Sparkling] This is the time when the bubbly comes out. Anna is certainly a good alternative for welcoming in the new year; but it's also a fine food wine that goes very well with fish or fowl. It's a non-standard cava with 70% Chardonnay blended with the usual cava trio (Macabeo, Parellada & Xarel-lo). Bright pale straw color with a good supply of medium small bubbles. Clean and fresh on the nose with nice fruit (apple) and a pleasant yeasty/bakery smell. On the palate it's crisp, fruity and fresh. The result is smooth, not angular as cava can often be. Good length and a nice creamy mouthfeel. Very good. [$M] |
