Wine of the Week | Viņa Ardanza 1999 [Red] This wine's a Rioja classic and a perennial favorite in Spain's better restaurants. Made from 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha, it's smooth and user friendly, especially with a meal. An excellent wine, and very much ready to drink now. Medium dark cherry red color, showing brick/brown along the edge. Nicely complex on the nose with a pleasant mix of ripe red berry fruit, leather, and bottle bouquet. On the palate it's very smooth and easy to drink with fruit, leather and spice (clove). Excellent finish. [$H] |
