Wine of the Week

Ziries 2015 [Red]
Producer: Bodegas Ziries
Region: Vinos de España

100% garnacha from ‘Paraje Galayo' in the now fashionable Sierra de Gredos, where Daniel Ramos opened the door to the region's prized garnacha wines; old bush vines grown on rocky granite infused soils.

Bright & fresh (despite having spent close to 10 years in bottle) with cherry/berry fruit, mineral & floral notes.
Medium body with good tannic structure, balanced acidity, red berry fruit flavors, rose petals, a touch of fine leather with a crisp stony mineral background. Excellent bottle of wine.

Not without reason, some suggest that Gredos garnacha is Spain's pinot noir.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
