Wine of the Week | Tilenus Pagos de Posada 2000 [Red] The Mencía grape reds from the Bierzo region in northwest Spain have come into their own in recent years. In the past Bierzo was known for light colored, simple reds, but today Mencía is showing itself to be top quality grape, capable of producing wines with fruit, depth, color and complexity - like Tilenus Pagos de Posada. A good match for a prime rib of beef´ Very dark bing cherry red color. Wonderfully complex nose shows ripe blackberry/blueberry fruit, chocolate, spice and a nice minerally/graphite sensation. A medium-bodied palate with ample fruit, tasty and fresh with crisp acidity and great length. Excellent. [$H] |
