Regente Palo Cortado NV [Fortified]
Producer: Sánchez Romate
Region: DO Jerez-Xéres-Sherry, Manzanilla

100% palomino fino, nurtured a relatively short time for Palo Cortado (about 15 years) in American oak sherry butts.

Intense aromatics: Nutty (walnut/hazlenut), a touch of antique store beeswax/varnish and vanilla.
Robust flavors: nuts, heather honey, spar varnish, vanilla, a hint of salinity in the background and a pleasantly bitterish finish. Works as an aperitif, with food or a soothing after dinner sipper. Excellent!

Palo Cortados are to a certain degree "mystery wines" that don't quite fit to the usual parameters of amontillado or oloroso. These "off barrels" are set aside, the best become Palo Cortado.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
