Carraquintana
Wine of the Week

Carraquintana 2018 [Red]
Producer: Bodegas Amaten
Region: DOC Rioja

Singular vineyard, 3 contiguous plots planted in 1930, 1940 y 1962, a field blend: mainly tempranillo + malvasía with a small measure of garnacha and a smidgin of graciano. Nurtured 14 months in a mix of 500 & 225 liter barrels as well as a 700 liter concrete egg.

Dark color, ripe berry fruit, mellow vanilla/cinnamon spice, well integrated oak elements.
Smoky, chewy/juicy, slightly leathery tannins, veiled spicyness with deep dark, plummy fruit, nice acidity, eternal finish. Something really special, evolving superbly. Delightful & outstanding. To sip and enjoy.

Rioja Alavesa, bottled with the "Viñedo Singular" label, reserved for unique vineyard plots in Rioja.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
