Wine of the Week | la viña escondida 2018 [Red] 100% garnacha ecologically grown on 90 year old vines in a vineyard perched on a rocky granite knoll in the Sierra de Gredos. Hand selected in the vineyard, lightly stomped in small vats, transferred to a 2,000 liter French oak tank, nurtured for 18 months. Bursting with a myriad of aromas: dark berries/plums, hillside herbs & flowers, star anis, cinnamon bark with hints of rocky minerals. In the past, Gredos garnachas haven't struck my fancy, being underpowered and often over priced. This one is totally different: rich & refined with vim & vigor and a fair price tag (30€) [$H] |
