Wine of the Week | Burgo Viejo Blanco 2023 [White] A blend of 60% viura (macabeo) & 40% tempranillo blanco, made from organically grown grapes. Gently pressed, temperature controlled, steel tanks only. A crystalline golden straw color and a fresh, fruit driven nose: citrus, apple & pear with background notes of dried flowers and fresh cut hay. Crisp acidity with lemony freshness, apples and a hint of fennel & sandy minerals. Lingers pleasantly on the palate. While still a minority, the addition of new varieties like tempranillo blanco, chardonnay, verdejo and others have given Rioja whites a new lease on life. [$L] |
