Gran Barquero Palo Cortado [Fortified]
Producer: Pérez Barquero
Region: DO Montilla-Moriles

100% Pedro Ximénez, from top vineyards of Montilla-Moriles DO (Sierra de Montilla and Moriles Altos). Selected barrels of oxidative aged wines spend some 25 years developing in American oak barrels.

Delightful, showing sensationally complex aromas: walnuts, old wood, beeswax and a hint of dried fruit.
Slides down easily, smooth, rich, long, honey & coffee, outstanding. Pure pleasure, with food or just for "meditational purposes".

Palo Cortados are to a certain degree "mystery wines" that don't quite fit to the usual parameters of amontillado or oloroso. These "off barrels" are set aside, the best become Palo Cortado.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
