Wine of the Week | Fino Gran Barquero [Fortified] 100% pedro ximénez grapes grown on "albariza" (chalk soil) parcels in Sierra de Montilla and Moriles Altos. Nourished under flor for 8-10 years in American oak sherry butts. Dry herbs/flowers/straw, almonds, a hint of fruit (dried apricots), old wood (antique shop aromas). Montilla-Moriles wines are made with the local pedro ximénez grapes in the sherry-style, but cannot be called "sherry" as only wines from Jerez can use that descriptor. [$L] |
