Wine of the Week

Robles Copeo Fino [Fortified]
Producer: Bodegas Robles
Region: DO Montilla-Moriles

100% pedro ximénez grapes, matured in "soleras" (large American oak "botas"). Fino style, grown under "flor" for about 2 years.

Nutty/chalky aromas, typically fino. Dry and fresh with almonds, dried apricots, a hint of quince and a slightly chalky/mineral finish.
Lovely aperitif wine that will also work well with shrimp & shellfish. Terrific value, good for cooking as well.

The pedro ximénez grapes make for a dry wine, but not as bone dry as a palomino-based fino from Jerez.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
