Wine of the Week | Parajes de los Vidrios Garnacha 2017 [Red] 100% old vines garnacha (80-100 years old) grown on granite based soils in the Sierra de Gredos area. Nurtured 12 months in 500 liter French oak barrels. Lightish red, leaning toward brick color (the only sign of middle age), pinot-like on the nose with tea leaves, dry flowers, leather & dried cherry/cranberry fruit. Gredos mountain's garnachas have become fashionable of late. Clearly a different take on the grape compared to it's cousins in Calatayud or Campo de Borja which are deeper & darker. [$M] |
