Wine of the Week | Rodrejo 2001 [Red] Not long ago, we talked about this same producer's rosé and this hearty unoaked red is made along the same lines: 100% Monastrell from Jumilla in Southeastern Spain. A fruity red with body that will improve over the next year or so and should go well with most meat dishes. Very good, great value. Dark purple/red color. Rich intense fruit aromas of fresh blackberries & blueberries with a slightly floral note. Full-bodied palate with lots of ripe fruit, balanced acidity and hearty tannins. Good now, but should mellow out and be even better in 6 months or so. [$L] |
