 Wine of the Week | Rolland & Galarreta Esencia 2012 [Red] 100% tempranillo from "senior" vineyards (60 year average age) above the town of Labastida, Alava. The specially selected grapes are cold macerated for four days before fermentation, matured 18 months in new American oak barrels. A serious wine, classic Rioja Alavesa style with ripe cherries and blueberries, a touch of leather and spicy aromatics (nutmeg/clove). Product of a joint venture between Araex's Javier Galarreta & renouned French winemaker, Michel Rolland.
