Wine of the Week | San Román 2019 [Red] 100% tempranillo (locally known as tinta de toro), vines over 40 years old, organically grown on sandy/gravel soils with an underlying layer of clay. Nurtured 2 years in a mix of French and American oak barrels (225 & 500 liter). Bottled February 2022. Dark wild cherry fruit with a murmur of strawberry, a hint of spice and stony minerals. San Román is the second project of reputed winemake Mariano García, after many years as Vega Sicilia's head winemaker. [$M] |
