Wine of the Week | Barón de Chirel Verdejo Viñas Centenarias 2021 [White] 100% verdejo from ungrafted pre-philoxera vines (100+ years) in the province of Segovia, at altitude (900 meters) & planted on sandy granite soils. Serious stuff, beautifully made with great intensity: stone fruit & dry flowers/herbs backed up by a touch of alluvial minerality. Bottled under the IGP Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León denomination rather than DO Rueda. Lack of "typicity" perhaps? [$H] |
