Wine of the Week | Muga Blanco 2020 [White] Mainly viura (macabeo) grapes with some garnacha blanca & malvasía riojana (alarije), grown in the Rioja Alta subzone. Fermented in oak (barrels & vats), developing on the lees for about 4 months. Dry flowers/straw, quince, pears and grapefruit; the wood is well integrated, minimal presence. Rioja's not well known for its white wines (around 10% of the production), but there are many pleasant surprises like this little gem from Muga. [$L] |
