Wine of the Week | Finca Sobreño Selección Especial 1999 [Red] The DO Toro region has become one of Spain's "new frontiers" for quality red wines. This new release from Bodegas Sobreño is no exception, a rich robust oak-aged red that would make a superb barbeque wine. Deep cherry red color with a dark purple tint. Ripe berry fruit [blueberry, blackberry] and a mix of aromatic spices [clove, sandalwood] dominate the nose. The palate's rich and thick, with bramble-berry fruit, spicy oak and a touch of dark chocolate. Excellent, but could use a few months cellaring to mellow out to its full potential. [$H] |
