Wine of the Week | Montebuena 2019 [Red] 100% tempranillo from the Montebuena vineyards around the town of Labastida in Rioja Alavesa, nurtured 3 to 4 months in oak barrels. First whiff: blackberries, dry herbs & hay, second whiff and beyond: more fruit (berries & cherries), brushy herbs and a hint of smoke. Solagüen/Montebuena co-op has shown itself over the years to be a reliable producer of very good, value-driven wines. [$L] |
