Wine of the Week | Vinsacro Dioro Selección 2017 [Red] A "vidau" blend of old vines grapes from the Cuesta de la Reina vineyard on Monte Yerga, mostly garnacha with tempranillo, mazuelo & others. Hand selected, chilled to 6ºC, 30 days fermenting & macerating on the skins, nurtured 17 months in oak barrels. Rich sweet fruit (black & blueberries), spice: nutmeg, vanilla and cardamom. "Vidau" vineyards were the standard in Rioja in the old days, multiple grape varieties planted together, then harvested at the same time & co-fermented. Today Escudero picks, ferments & nurtures the individual varieties separately, then puts them together in the final blend. [$H] |
