Wine of the Week | Viņa Ardanza Reserva 2010 [Red] 80% tempranillo, 20% garnacha from the winery's own vineyards. The tempranillo is nurtured in used American oak barrels for 36 months; the garnacha sees 30 months in 2-3 year old barrels of American oak. Bottled in May 2015. Nice garnet red color, elegant & complex on the nose with well ripened fruit (blueberry/cherry), spice (nutmeg/vanilla), plus a hint of licorice & dark chocolate.
Ardanza is a Rioja classic and a personal favorite. This 2010 is drinking beautifully right now and will hang in there for years to come. [$H] |
