Wine of the Week | Finca Muņoz 2000 [Red] Produced from 100% Tempranillo grapes, grown in the La Mancha area but offered as a Vino de la Tierra category wine. Aged 6 months in American oak barrels. A good barbeque wine. Ruby garnet color with a touch of purple. Fresh balsamics [bay leaf, mint & eucalyptus] and blackberry/black cherry fruit predominate the nose, followed by a pleasant, clean, flowery smell and a touch of vanilla and spice. Fine palate with nice, fresh ripe fruit [blackberry/cherry] with vanilla, coconut, mint and bay leaf. Fruit driven wine, the oak's present but the fruitiness clearly predominates over the barrel-aging components. Very good. [$L] |
