Wine of the Week | Leyenda Fino [Fortified] A classic dry sherry, aged under a veil of yeast known as "flor" in the traditional "solera" system of Jerez. 100% palomino fino grapes. A sherry to enjoy on its own, or with food. A bright pale straw color with an ample panorama of "flor" aromas: almonds & hazelnuts, slightly herbaceous (dry straw, mustard seeds), a touch saline. Clean and fresh on the palate, no rough edges, alcohol (15%) is well integrated. A keeper. A useful, all purpose sherry that will work well on the table with a wide variety of seafood. It also makes a nice counterpoint to hot/spicy fare. In the kitchen it's great for cooking - try a splash in your next bowl of soup. [$L] |
