Wine of the Week | Valtravieso Crianza 1999 [Red] This tasty Ribera's made from Tempranillo [90%] with a bit of Merlot [5%] and Cabernet Sauvignon [5%]; aged 3 months in large tanks, followed by 12 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels. Deep dark purple/plum color with a magenta edge. Clearly defined, nicely complex aromas of blackberries and blueberries joined by balsamics [bay leaf],and a touch of vanilla and clove. Powerful full-bodied palate with hearty berry fruit nicely integrated with a firm tannic structure. Good wine. [$M] |
