Wine of the Week | Gran Reserva 890 2001 [Red] The winery's first wine was 1890, thus the name. A genuine Rioja classic made only in top vintages. Tempranillo (95%) and a bit of Graciano & Mazuelo, six years of barrel age, bottled in 2008. An enormous wine, pure pleasure in a bottle. Dark garnet red color. Beautifully complex nose with aromas of ripe berry fruit (blueberry), vanilla, spice (cinnamon/nutmeg), 'After Eight'... Silky smooth on the palate, super soft tannins, mature fruit flavors, chocolate, great length and balance. Outstanding! [$H] |
