Wine of the Week | Aster 2010 [Red] 100% Tempranillo, aged 22 months in French oak barrels (70% new), bottled in July 2013. True to La Rioja Alta, SA's style: lengthy (but never abusive) oak aging and plenty of time in bottle before release. An excellent Ribera del Duero red. Deep dark bing cherry color. Well defined nose with great balance between fruit (blueberry/blackberry) & oak (toffee, chocolate, coffee). Full & rich on the palate with ripe berry fruit, polished tannins and excellent length. A pleasure to drink, superb food wine. [$M] |
