Wine of the Week | Muga Selección Especial Reserva 2009 [Red] Muga's long been a favorite of mine. This "Special Selection" is a well conceived blend of Tempranillo (70%), Garnacha (20%) with a bit of Mazuela & Graciano. Aged 28 months in barrels made by Muga's own coopers. A hearty, full-bodied Rioja with a modern touch. Excellent. Dense, dark cherry red color. A hint of reduction at the start whick quickly disappears, leaving aromas of ripe, rich blueberry fruit and a touch of "garrique" & spice. Hearty/meaty palate with ample ripe berry fruit, smooth sweet tannins and excellent length. A keeper. [$H] |
