Wine of the Week | Gran Reserva 904 2001 [Red] A genuine Rioja classic from a superlative vintage. 90% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, aged 4 years in used American oak barrels, bottled in June 2006. This is what a Rioja Gran Reserva is all about. Great wine, not to be missed. Medium cherry red color with just a hint of brick along the edge. A wonderful nose, filled with those well-aged "bouquet" smells: beeswax, old leather, dried cherry fruit, sandalwood & cardamom. Silky smooth, balanced palate. Easy to drink with sweet ripe berry fruit, leather & dark chocolate. Enormous complexity and great length. [$H] |
