Wine of the Week | Finca de Villatuerta Selección Especial 2009 [Red] An excellent Tempranillo/Merlot blend from one of Navarra's longstanding quality producers, Chivite. It's aged 14 months in French oak, but the wood does not get in the way of this very drinkable wine. Good vintage in the region. Very recommendable. Dark ruby red color, still looks quite young. Nice aromatics with fine leather and a pleasant, gentle peaty/smoky scent. Full bodied with nice mature fruit (blueberry/raspberry), good concentration, silky smooth tannins. Elegant, balanced, very well put together. [$M] |
