Wine of the Week | Viña Alberdi 2007 [Red] Always, one of my favorite producers, La Rioja Alta has been making quality Riojas for more than 100 years. Alberdi is their entry-level wine, a 100% Tempranillo "crianza" with a lengthy stay in oak, longer than many other's "reservas". Very good, excellent value. Medium dark cherry red color, clean & bright. Beautifully concentrated, ripe sweet blueberry/blackberry fruit on nose & palate. Excellent expression of Tempranillo aromas & flavors. Nicely complex with hints of spice (cinnamon/nutmeg), dark chocolate, smoke over a rich & tasty fruit foundation. Good balance, nice length. [$M] |
