Wine of the Week | Lagar de Cervera 2012 [White] This producer, owner by La Rioja Alta, SA, is a now a classic Albariño. 2012 is the 25th vintage of Lagar de Cervera, thus the special label. 2012 was a difficult vintage in the area, with low yields caused by a cool, wet Spring. An easy drinking Albariño, good Summer wine. Pale straw color with a greenish tint. The nose has an interesting twist with hints of dry straw/hay, along with the typical citrus (lime), flowers (honeysuckle) and fruit (ripe pears). A lighter and less acidic taste makes it easy on the palate where the dry grass, lime/lemon and pear flavors join together with a nice minerally finish. [$M] |
