Wine of the Week | San León [Fortified] It's been a while since I've sampled this wine, one of my favorite Manzanilla dry sherries. It was not a letdown. This solera-aged fino is a real treat and a fine example of these wines, aged next to the Atlantic in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz. A wonderful wine, not to be missed. Very pale straw yellow color, clean & bright. The nose is delicate & intense at the same time. Ample notes of aging under "flor": dry nuts (almond/hazlenut) and that special mineral/saline touch only Manzanillas possess. Crisp & dry on the palate, fresh and clean with a nutty/saline/umami flavor and a long, almost sweet finish. Delicately beautiful. [$L] |
