Wine of the Week | Gran Reserva 904 2000 [Red] As good an example of a classic Rioja Gran Reserva as you'll find. Mostly Tempranillo (90%) with a bit of Graciano. Aged a full 4 years in used American oak barrels, bottled in 2006, released in late 2012. A magnificent wine! Medium depth in color, tending toward garnet/brick tones. Great complexity on the nose: a hint of spice & beeswax, fine leather, ripe fruit (plums/figs) and some cigar box aromas. Silky smooth on the palate with polished, sweet tannins, notable depth & complexity, and a long, long finish. Outstanding. [$H] |
