Wine of the Week | Burgo Viejo Crianza 2009 [Red] Made from 90% Tempranillo & 10% Graciano with 12 months of barrel age in American oak, this excellent Rioja has been well reviewed by the media and has won multiple awards in Europe. Just one sip shows why. Great wine, and an even better value. Nice dark ruby color with a pleasant blend of spicy oak and dark berry fruit (blueberry/blackberry) on the nose. On the palate it's fresh, balanced where the fruit holds sway over a solid base of smooth tannins and oak. A pleasure to drink and will cellar well for some years to come. Excellent. [$M] |
