Wine of the Week | Pago de Carraovejas 1999 [Red] Not an easy name to pronounce, but Pago de Carraovejas [Pah-goh day Cahrah-ovay-hahs] is a perennial favorite. The 1999 Crianza is just out and just as good [perhaps better] than the '98. A rich full-bodied red which works well will grilled steak or lamb. Deep dark purple-red color. Clean aromas of ripe cherry/blackberry fruit with a touch of spice, vanilla and sandalwood. Rich mouthfilling fruit-driven palate [blackberries] with a slightly lemony acidic touch, good balance and superb length. Excellent. [$M] |
