Wine of the Week | Viņa Ardanza 2004 [Red] Viņa Ardanza is a Rioja classic, made from a blend of Tempranillo (80%) and Garnacha (20%) with prolonged barrel (and bottle) age before release. The 2004 Rioja vintage was very highly rated and this silky smooth red is an excellent example. A terrific wine, one of the finest Riojas I've tried in some time. Excellent. Medium dark cherry/garnet color. A genuine pleasure for the senses with a nice spicy/ripe fruit nose: leather, coconut, bee's wax, ripe cherries & clove. On the palate it's super smooth with polished tannins, persistent fruit & spice flavors and great length. [$H] |
