Wine of the Week | Paydos 2008 [Red] 100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) with 15 months of oak barrel ageing. This the first vintage of a new venture from Ribera del Duero based Alonso del Yerro. A powerful, yet elegant wine, and a good example of what a quality Toro is all about. Excellent. Deep, dark almost black in color. "Dark" aromas dominate the nose: blackberry/blueberry fruit, chocolate and toasted oak. Full bodied and full of flavor: ripe berries, dark chocolate, subtle spices; intense, yet balanced & elegant on the palate. Lively, smooth/ripe tannins and a superb finish. [$H] |
