Wine of the Week | Goliardo Espadeiro 2009 [Red] To most, Rías Baixas = Albariño, but red varieties like Espadeiro (related to Rioja's Maturana Tinta) have shown great promise of late. This is without a doubt, one of the best reds I've had the pleasure to sample in recent years, a terrific wine. Not to be missed! Medium dark red color. Great aromatics on a superbly complex nose: smokey paprika, pepper, dried flowers/grass and red berry fruit. Fresh and bright on the palate with black pepper, balsamic notes (eucalyptus?) and rich, ripe fruit. Great balance and acidity, very long finish, built to last. Outstanding. [$H] |
